Well, yesterday was quite the exciting day. Chad officially became a bike racer in the eyes of the American public as he entered his first stage of the Tour de France. Although he has seven Grand Tours already under his belt, because the general public in America has never heard of those races, those tours don't count.
To prove my point, Chad has been racing professionally since 2011 and on the European circuit since 2014. In 2017, his team (Team Sunweb) won the Giro d'Italia (a Grand Tour in Italy that is equivalent to the Tour de France). Yet yesterday was the first time our local TV station has contacted him for an interview.
Speaking of interviews, Chad was interviewed prior to the first stage of Le Tour by NBC Sports Network as well as after the first stage. Once upon a time, this shy young boy and teenager didn't even want to introduce himself to the audience at his piano recitals, yet he has transformed into a young man who eloquently speaks in an interview on national television. It warms this mother's heart. I can only imagine what his father would think.
I am unable to add the videos on my blog, but they are posted on Facebook on the Haga Books of Faith page.
