And the Winner Is . . .

. . . DeLayne Haga for His Love Carries Me. Yes, I won the “Henri Award” at the 2018 Christian Literary Awards gala! This is Joy & Company’s “most prestigious award among faith-based writers.” The book won in the “Non-Fiction” category against some strong competition. It was a night to remember with photos on the red carpet and an interview by radio personality/author Donna Patrick.

Two of my editors went with me, Lee Ann Bandy and Kristi Brashier. A special thanks to Kristi for capturing some of the evening in photos. You can view my interview on the Facebook page for Haga Books of Faith. We didn’t get a video of my acceptance speech, but here it is in writing:

I feel truly honored to receive this award.

I want to thank two of my editors who are here tonight: Kristi Brashier and Lee Ann Bandy.

I also want to thank Donna Skell and Lisa Burkhardt Worley for their encouragement in publishing the book and for directing me to a wonderful publisher. If it weren’t for them and their Roaring Lambs conference for writers, I wouldn’t have known about this contest.

I can’t accept this award on my behalf alone. I had tremendous help writing this book, with two other individuals faithfully helping me the entire way. Without them, there would be no book. They couldn’t be here tonight in person, but they are here in spirit. My book was dedicated to them, and so is this award:

To my husband, Chris, who lived for me,

and to my Lord, Jesus Christ, who died for me.

Their love carries me.

Thank you.
