A Song for My Heart

At our monthly Cancer Encouragement Group in 2013, Paul Guffey, a cancer survivor and talented musician, played the guitar and sang a soft, tranquil song that he wrote. I found myself wiping away tears; it made my heart swell so much with emotion that I couldn’t contain it. The song helped me realize that my love for the Lord had continued and grown despite the storms in life we were experiencing. He was giving me the strength to carry on through each day. With Paul’s permission, I will share the lyrics with you and pray that it will touch your heart, too.

I Worship

I will bless you Lord, though my life's been hard
Though the storm clouds cover me, in You I still believe
I will bless Your name, through good and through the pain
I give this broken life to You, I lay it down today

I worship, You Jesus... I worship, no matter what the cost
I love You, my Jesus... I need You, more and more each day
No matter what the day brings, no matter what I go through
No matter what this life brings, I worship

Some days I don't feel strong, too weak to carry on
This wounded warrior needs to find a shelter from the storm
So Lord I speak Your name, I bow to You and pray
It's where I find my strength again, to make it through the day

I worship, You Jesus... I worship, no matter what the cost
I love You, my Jesus... I need You, more and more each day
No matter what the day brings, no matter what I go through
No matter what this life brings, I worship

When the worst of life comes and breaks your heart
Will you still love Jesus while you fall apart?
Will you get down on your knees, will you bow your head?
Will you lift your voice and say…

I worship, You Jesus... I worship, no matter what the cost
I love You, my Jesus... I need You, more and more each day
No matter what the day brings, no matter what I go through
No matter what this life brings, I worship
